Welcome!

Welcome to the new home of GroupFitPower — your total source for info, advice, spinning profiles and choreography to take some of the headache out of preparing for your group fitness classes!  We’re still in transition from the WordPress hosted site, so bear with us as we complete the migration.  You’ll want to update your RSS feeds and reset your bookmarks, as all posts with wordpress in their urls will be taken down in the future.

We are so glad you are here!  If you have any thoughts, questions, or comments about the new design or site in general, please leave your comments below!

Spinning Profile: Individual Time Trial

Today’s profile is heavily influenced by a ride I took at Florida MANIA.  It was called “Ultimate Time Trial” and it was presented by Schwinn Cycling Master Trainer Keli Roberts.   Keli is an avid road racer and had a great deal of personal detail to share with us about racing and time trialing.  It was very inspiring to be taught the technique of racing by a rider who has won road races.  Not only that, but Keli is an absolutely charming lady with great coaching ability and a constant smile.  Even at the high point of the race, she was glowing and cheering us on.  Quite motivating.

Florida MANIA

I had the pleasure of spending three days in sun-drenched Orlando, Florida for the SCW Fitness Conference called Florida MANIA. I am pleased to report that not only did it outperform my expectations, but it actually gave me a reason not to be sad that I was unable to attend the concurrent WSSC Convention in Miami. Gas prices what they are, I had to stay closer to home this year, and I am glad that I did. I received a wide-variety of information that will not only satify my CEU requirements for most of my certifications, I learned new things in each of the areas that I went to study.

In order to provide you with the best possible review of the conference, I am going to share with you my responses to the convention survey and fill in every detail that I possibly can!

42 Rules for Working Women

Before I get to the series of posts I have planned, I want to share with you a book that is being released this week. It is called 42 Rules for Working Women and I wrote Rule #11: Succeed at Staying Fit. Unfortunately for us, I don’t plug group fitness classes exclusively, but I make the case for non-traditional exercise, otherwise known as getting up and moving!

I make absolutely zero money from the sales of this book (who negotiated *that* contract? LOL) but I do want to let you know that it is available and ask you to share it with the Working Women in your life who could benefit from some solid, “life-balancing” advice from women who do it everyday.

Thanks for letting my plug my single published work!
